summer holidays

Wow, time sure flies when you're having fun. Time for some updates. We hoped and prayed that our little girl would hold off coming into heat until she was 8 months old. That would have allowed us to make the trip down to see her 'grandparents'and then have her time when we got home but her little body clock had other plans and mademoiselle started bleeding the day before we left. We dutifully bought her her first panties which she accepted no problems.

Wow, comme dirait les romains, tempus fugit. Il est temps de ratrapper. On a prié pour que Eshistou fasse ses chaleurs à 8 mois - après les vacances mais, manque de bol, elle les a commencés le jour avant notre départ. On lui a acheté sa 1e petite culotte et elle l'a accepté sans souci.



Eshistou goes to work every day with her Daddy in his work car so for her the trip was nothing more than another trip in a car. She just did like normal, put her little head down and drifted off to dream world. The only time she did get a little impatient was after 11 hours in the car when she put her little head between the front seats, leaned on my shoulder and gave a huge sigh.

Eshistou part au travail avec son papounet tous les jours dans sa voiture donc pour elle la voiture n'a pas de secrets. Elle a fait comme d'habitude - elle a ronflé tout au long du trajet. Le seul moment où elle en pouvait plus, c'était après 11 heures de route quand elle a mis sa tête sur mon épaule et elle a soufflé.



We did have plenty of stops on the way although with her being a puppy and on heat we couldn't trust her off leash even at rest stops.

But we made it to her Daddy's grandpa's house with no problems where she met the first dog in her life that was smaller than her! She's so used to huge dogs at home that she didn't quite know what to make of this little rat at her paws!

On est arrivé chez le pépé de son papounet sans souci où elle a rencontré le premier chien de sa vie qui est plus petit qu'elle! Elle a tellement l'habitude d'être la plus petite qu'elle ne savait pas quoi penser de ce petit chien.



As she was on heat we couldn't take her out to all the places we wanted to so her grandpa got stuck with puppy-sitting duties while we went to see the rest of the family. She loved her makeshift kennel.

Avec ses chaleurs on ne pouvait pas la sortir comme on voulait donc son papy a dû la garder quand on était de sortie. Elle a adoré cette niche faite maison.



She slept at the foot of our bed for the holidays, a real treat for her as usually she sleeps in the office back at home.

Elle a dormi au pied de notre lit, un régale pour elle - à la maison elle dort dans le bureau.



She found a new BFF, this tennis ball.

Elle a trouvé une meilleure copine pour la vie - cette balle de tennis.

I love all of them. Vasco is a bit scared of me but then he's scared of all other dogs. He likes to come say hi but then when he gets too close he's not so sure of me. Max and I generally say hi on either side of the fence and when Max yells at something in the street I feel the need to join in. If I'm eating I'll bark but won't move from my plate, I have to have my priorities straight!

Je les aime tous. Vasco a un peu peur de moi mais il a peur de tous les petits chiens. Il aime venir à la cloiture me dire bonjour mais une fois arrivé il n'est plus très sûr de lui. Max et moi, on se fait des mamours chacun notre côté du grillage et quand Max il gueule sur du monde dans la rue, je le soutiens. Mais si je mange j'aboie mais je ne bouge pas de ma gamelle. Faut pas déconner non plus!

Enko and my Dads work together so we often play together and go into the forest together. Caps is a dog who lives in the village and he loves to come to the gate and say hi to me.

Le papa de Enko et le mien, ils travaillent ensemble donc je joue souvent avec lui et on va en forêt ensemble. Caps est un chien dans le village et il adore venir me voir à la barrière.

If you pass in our village and see a shaven puppy hanging by her back toenails from the church spire with a look on her face which says 'why on earth am I naked and hanging from the church spire' you'll know it's ours. The little sweetheart learned to jump over the front fence the other day (we've bought a new, higher fence) and today she stole a lamb chop from the counter when we were doing work upstairs.

Si vous passez dans notre village et vous voyez un chiot rasé pendu du clocher de l'église par ses orteils des pattes arrières avec un regard à la gueule qui dit 'pourquoi je suis toute nue en plein milieu du village' vous saurez que c'est le notre. La petite a appris à sauter par dessus la barrière (on en a commandé une plus haute) et aujourd'hui elle nous a volé et bouffé une tranche de mouton pendant qu'on était en haut pour travailler sur la maison.

bath time

Eshistou had her first bath today. She'd been rolling in cow poop and mud and I'll spare you details of the stink! I filled the bath 1/4 full with luke-warm water and put her leash around the taps. I put her in and like the other times when I've washed her paws, she just accepted everything. I had no problems putting water over her body, then using puppy shampoo and rinsing. After washing her, we went outside and played 'dry my puppy' just like after every rain shower. I'm so proud of my little girl.

Eshistou a eu son premier bain aujourd'hui. Cet aprem elle a roulé dans une bouse de vache et dans la boue, je vous épargnerai les détails de la puanteur! J'ai rempli notre baignoire à 1/4 avec de l'eau tiède et j'ai mis sa laisse sur le robinet. Je l'ai mise dedans et comme les autres fois où je lui ai lavé les pattes, elle a tout accepté. Aucun problème pour la mouiller, la laver et la sécher dehors après avec un jeu que nous appelons 'sécher mon chiot' auquel nous jouons après chaque pluie. Je suis si fière de ma petite.

Finally for the past 3 days, the puppy girl has been letting us sleep. I've been waking up around 7:30 because it's been a long weekend. I've been waking her up istead of the other way round. After 2 months solid of being woken up between 6:30 and 7 with 7 being the max she'd allow us to sleep, it's like a breath of fresh air.

Enfin, depuis 3 jours la petite nous laisse dormir. Je me réveille vers 7h30 pendant ce weekend d'assension.
Ce sont nous qui la réveillons et non l'inverse. Après 2 mois où elle nous a réveillé entre 6h30 et 7h max, ça fait du bien.
