Finally for the past 3 days, the puppy girl has been letting us sleep. I've been waking up around 7:30 because it's been a long weekend. I've been waking her up istead of the other way round. After 2 months solid of being woken up between 6:30 and 7 with 7 being the max she'd allow us to sleep, it's like a breath of fresh air.

Enfin, depuis 3 jours la petite nous laisse dormir. Je me réveille vers 7h30 pendant ce weekend d'assension.
Ce sont nous qui la réveillons et non l'inverse. Après 2 mois où elle nous a réveillé entre 6h30 et 7h max, ça fait du bien.

fetch

Eshistou is finally getting the hang of the concept of fetching something we throw. Until she was 3 months old we'd throw something and she'd look at us like we were nuts. After 3 months she started to chase the thing we'd throw then settle down and start chewing on the object. Now at 4 months she fetches no problems. If she gets distracted then we just say fetch again and she starts looking again. Now we're working on getting her to drop the object at our feet so we don't have to fish anything out of her mouth. It currently works about 50% of the time.

Eshistou a enfin compris le concepte de raporter quelque chose quand on le jete. (fetch) Avant 3 mois quand on jettait son jouet elle nous regardait comme si on était fous. Après 3 mois elle chassait le jouet et le machoillait sans rapporter. A 4 mois elle reviens avec l'objet. Si elle est distraite on redit le mot fetch et elle se remets à chercher. Maintenant nous travaillons une technique de la faire cracher le jouet pour ne pas avoir à le chercher dans sa geule. (le mot 'drop'). Ca marche à 50% en ce moment.

intelligence

Eshistou is a smart wee thing like most gun dogs. We got the proof yesterday when we hid a bit of cardboard she had been chewing on behind the couch. I thought out of sight out of mind but no. She wan't in the room when I put it behind the couch and she's never gone back there before, but as soon as she came back in she made a beeline for the couch and found it in 10 seconds flat. Note to self behind the sofa isn't a good hiding place.

Eshistou est très intelligente comme la plupart des chiens de chasse. On a eu la preuve hier quand on a caché un bout de carton derrière le canapé. Je me suis dit si elle le voit pas, elle va plus y penser. Erreur. Elle n'était pas dans la pièce quand j'ai caché le carton mais une fois rentrée elle s'est dirigée directe pour le canapé. Il faut noter qu'elle n'est jamais allée derrière le canapé auparavant. Note pour moi: faut pas cacher des choses derrière le clic clac

teeth / dents

Eshistou lost her first milk teeth today. She has a gap-toothed smile now. She has 1 of her top front teeth and one of her bottom front teeth gone. So it starts!

Eshistou a perdu ses premières dents de lait aujourd'hui. Il lui manque une dent en haut devant et en bas devant. Et ça commence!
