The breed standard of the St Usuge spaniel states that it is a breed that is easy to train. Here is the proof that with the right motivation this is definately true. Here's the sequence of Eshistou giving her paw, waving and giving a high five.

But you also shouldn't make the mistake of thinking that easy to train is a synonym of a weak personality. Eshistou definately knows her mind and knows how to let us know if she doesn't like something although it's never by showing her teeth or any other sign of aggression.
Il ne faut pas confondre facile à dresser avec faible. Eshistou sait ce qu'elle veut et elle sait nous le faire savoir sans jamais montrer ses dents ni montrer un autre signe d'agressivité quelconque.

On heat
Eshistou has just come off her second round of being on heat. So for the record, the time between the start of the last one and the start of this one was 7.5 months. If anyone thinks she's cute and would like a St Usuge spaniel, we're thinking of breeding from her only when she's 3 or 4 so a little while to wait yet! Her Mama, however is apparently going to have another litter at the end of this year (scroll down to the bottom of the page for Vaïpper)
Eshistou vient de terminer ses chaleurs donc pour se rappeler, ses chaleurs sont espacés de 7,5 mois. Si quelqu'un la trouve mignon et voudrais un épagneul de St Usuge, nous voudrions la faire reproduire seulement vers 3-4 ans donc il faudrait attendre encore un peu. Sa Mère fera apparemment une portée vers la fin de cette année (Vaïpper est en bas de page)

Agility
Yesterday Mummy took me to the club canin Toulois. I didn't really understand what she wanted. This nice lady held me and then mummy called me saying 'jump'. There were these tiny fences between me and Mummy. I saw the other dogs jumping over them but I'm smarter than that. Why jump when you can go around or under. Those other dogs are dumb as! But I like this tunnel thingy. You go through it and get cheese. I like that!
Ma maman m'a emmené dans le club cynophile Toulois Je n'ai pas trop compris ce qu'elle voulait. Une bonne femme me tenait puis maman m'a appellé en disant 'jump'. Il y avait des barrières entre maman et moi. J'ai vu d'autres chiens sauter par dessus mais moi je suis plus maligne. Pourquoi passer au dessus quand on peut esquiver ou passer en dessous. Ils sont bêtes ces autres chiens! Mais j'aime cette espèce de tunnel. Je passe dedans et j'ai du fromage au bout! La bonne combine.
